The Black Sheep of the Family - A Photoseries

The idea for this shoot comes from a lot of places. The catalyst of it all, though, is the feeling of alienation from your family, the feeling of being different from the ones around you, the feeling of not fitting in. The foundational theme for this idea is our basic perception of black and white. Black is generally seen as the colour associated with darkness, with sorrow while white is seen is a pure, angelic and peaceful colour. The contrast of this storyline is the contrast of black and white. With this project, I wanted to challenge our notions of black and white, and in turn, challenge how we perceive what’s inherently good and bad and the morally ambiguous nature of it all.

Frame 1 - In shadows' dance, a kinship intertwined, Veiled unity, whispers of the undefined. A soul in revolt, amidst a serene veneer, Annabel Lee, a spectral presence near.

Frame 2 - Amid textured whispers, a soul yearns to break free, Obscured by shadows, a quest for identity. Candlelit illusions, where judgments peel, An innocence concealed in emotions surreal.

Frame 3 - A mystic sway, a silent plea, A shared journey where shadows flee. In the enigma of existence, a tale unfolds, A collective narrative, in shadows it molds.

Frame 4 - Within abstract feasts, ambiguity's embark, A dance with shades, in shadows stark. The illusion of purity stripped bare, As truth lingers in the spectral air.

Frame 5 - Confidence stained in defiance's lore, At its core, a challenge to explore. Challenging perceptions in the shadow's sprawl, As the veils of illusions gracefully fall.

Frame 6 - A truth revealed amid nebulous forms, Pity and scrutiny as judgment storms. Worried reflections, love's contradiction, A family's tale, a nuanced rendition.

Frame 7 - Eyes closed in repose, echoes mystically exposed, A crown of shadows, perception's repose. Inhuman whispers, reality's flip, In the enigmatic tableau, emotions shaped.

Frame 8 - Annabel draped in the shadows' cast, Obscured struggles, a silhouette steadfast. A cloak of obscurity, unseen strife, Perceptions bound in the dance of life.
